Construction of Riviera Black Hawk Casino Commences20 September 1998BLACK HAWK, Colo. -- Riviera Gaming Management broke ground September 18 on the Riviera Black Hawk Casino in Black Hawk, Colorado. The anticipated opening date is December 1999. The $65 million 300,000 square-foot facility will be highlighted by a 31,000 square foot casino, including 1,000 slot and video poker machines and 14 table games. It will also feature a restaurant and a 400 seat entertainment lounge. A 550 space covered parking garage will be an integral part of the casino complex. "We feel that Riviera Black Hawk will be the premier gaming, food and entertainment venue in Black Hawk," said Ron Johnson, executive vice president of Riviera Gaming Management. "With the latest and most innovative types of slot and video poker machines available combined with the excellent food and entertainment experience we are accustomed to providing, we are confident that our guests will want to come back time and time again."
