Connecticut Man Charged for Illegal Gaming

HARTFORD, Connecticut –May 1, 2001 –As reported by the New Britian Herald: "…Dominick Sanzo turned himself in Monday to members of the Statewide Organized Crime Investigative Task Force and was arrested on outstanding warrants at Troop H in Hartford, State Police said.

"Through an investigation, the organized crime unit uncovered evidence that the 74-year-old was allegedly supplying illegal video gambling machines to bars and social clubs in Middletown, New Britain and Bristol, Sgt. Salvatore Calvo, of Troop H, said.

"Detectives located and seized seven illegal video gambling machines, all of which were discovered to be Sanzo's property, State Police spokesman Trooper Roger Beaupre said. The machines were placed into operation through Sanzo's business, Commercial Music & Games, of New Britain, Calvo said.

"…Sanzo, of 340 Brownstone Ridge, was charged with three counts of possession of gambling devices, four counts of professional gambling and five counts of possession and sale of gambling devices.

"…The illegal gambling machines were similar to video poker games, Beaupre said. The machines are considered to be illegal if the machine or person pays out cash winnings, he said…"
