Connecticut Interactive Game Cancelled

HARTFORD, Connecticut – As reported by the American Republican: "Following the advice of the attorney general, the Connecticut Lottery Corp. Wednesday canceled plans to introduce a computer-based lottery game.

"The game, Treasure Tower, was supposed to go on sale last week. But its debut was postponed after Blumethal raised questions.

"In a letter Wednesday to Susan G. Townsley, the director of the Division of Special Revenue which oversees all legalized gambling in the state, Blumenthal advised that the game does not pass legal muster and `is not permitted under existing legislation.'

"…`First, the game appears to be a video lottery, which has been banned in Connecticut since 1983,' he wrote. `Secondly, it has design features that appeal directly to young children,' Blumenthal said…"
