Colorado Officials Accused of Operating Side Business

GOLDEN, Colorado – As reported by the Associated Press: "Three Colorado Division of Gaming workers have left their jobs after accusations that they operated their own casino chip collecting business, a potential conflict for officials who oversee chip and token production.

"The Jefferson County District Attorney's Office will issue a report on the matter within a week, said Dennis Hall, senior deputy district attorney.

"Gaming employees Houston `'Huck' Henderson, chief of investigations, and Steve Barber, the agent in charge of the division's Cripple Creek office, have retired, and Phil Wargo, field operations supervisor, has resigned, said Maren Rubino, a spokeswoman for the Division of Gaming.

"KCNC-TV reported Monday that the men allegedly bought and sold chips with collectors while two of them were operating a private advertising specialty business on state time.

"…Collectors buy, trade and sell casino chips based on the monetary or artistic value, said Dick Brach, president of the Atlantic City chapter of the Casino Chip and Gaming Token Collectors Club Inc., which has 2,400 members…"
