Colorado Gaming Plan Headed to Ballot19 August 2003DENVER, Colorado – As reported by the Associated Press: "Barring a protest, voters will decide in November whether to add video gambling at racetracks and to freeze the residential property assessment rate, the secretary of state said Friday. "Proponents of both initiatives gathered enough signatures to qualify them for the Nov. 4 ballot, the secretary of state's office said. Opponents have 30 days to file a protest. "Amendment 33 would allow proceeds from video lottery terminals to be used to promote tourism, open space and parks. "State Sen. Jack Taylor, R-Steamboat Springs, has said the proposal could generate $66.5 million annually in state revenue. Of that amount, $25 million would go to tourism promotion…" |
