Church of England Attacks Casino Plans

UNITED KINGDOM – As reported by the UK Express and Star: "The Church of England has attacked controversial multi-million pound plans today to build Stafford's first ever casino saying it will stir up violence.

"Gavin Drake, spokesman for the Lichfield Diocese, said the church had major concerns about the entertainment venue which is earmarked for land off Newport Road.

"…The plans were unveiled yesterday for the casino, pub, bar, restaurant and flats, at the former Midland Red bus depot in Espleys Yard and Pilgrim Place.

"…Mr Drake said: "Gambling causes problems with families, family break-ups, poverty and violence…"
