CDS Slots are First Legal Las Vegas-Style Games in California

21 June 2000

LAS VEGAS--(Press Release)--June 21, 2000--Casino Data Systems (Nasdaq:CSDS - news) announced today that its games, including ``Easy Street(TM),'' ``Bingo(TM),'' ``Super Aces(TM)'' and ``Reel Deal(TM)'' gaming machines, were placed into operation on June 14 at the Viejas Casino and Turf Club, a tribal gaming facility in San Diego County, California.

This marks the first time ever that Las Vegas-style coin-operated slot machines were put into operation legally in California. These games were legalized with the passage of the state's Proposition 1A on March 7, 2000, an initiative which authorized a wider range of gaming operations on tribal lands in California.

``At Viejas, we are proud and excited that we were the first casino in California to offer the Las Vegas-style coin-operated games and that CDS was part of the excitement,'' said David Hicks, Viejas Casinos' Vice President, Slot Operations. ``Initial customer reaction to the CDS machines is tremendous and we are thrilled with their performance.''

Casino Data Systems is preparing 156 gaming machines for June shipment to five casinos operated by Native American tribes in California. The Company estimates that it will ship approximately 400 machines to California tribal casinos in the next few weeks.

``CDS is extremely pleased to be the first Class III slot manufacturer to have games up and running in California,'' said Dave Lucchese, Vice President of Games and Gaming for Casino Data Systems.

``We are honored that Viejas chose CDS games to partner with them on this historic event. The initial reception for our products has been extremely positive and we are looking forward to delivering a substantial number of games across the state as firm orders continue to come in.''

The games being shipped were among those recently approved by Gaming Laboratories International (``GLI'') for California casinos, and include some of the Company's best-selling titles.

Casino Data Systems is a leading designer, manufacturer and distributor of innovative, technology-driven products for the gaming industry. The Company's diversified product line reaches into virtually all facets of the casino floor, including casino management systems, games and meters, multiple site progressive systems and casino signage.
