Casinos Look for Essays on Gambling

SOUTH WEST IOWA – As reported by the Daily Nonpareil: ``A pen, paper, and a well-written article about the dangers of gambling could earn 20 local high schoolers a total of $10,000.

``On March 10, Ameristar Casino-Hotel, Bluffs Run Casino and Harrah's Council Bluffs Casino & Hotel kicked off their 2003 Project 21 Council Bluffs scholarship program for local high school students.

``The Project 21 program is designed to offer students the opportunity to educate their peers on the consequences of underage gambling.

``…Twenty high school students from the Council Bluffs and southwest Iowa area will win a total of $10,000 in scholarship money. The scholarships will be broken down into five $1,000 scholarships, five $500 scholarships and 10 $250 scholarships.
