Casinos Austria International Opens Casino on Boat in India

16 March 2001

VIENNA, Austria –(Press Release) --March 16, 2001-- Until recently, India, a country with over one billion inhabitants did not have a single casino. The nearest casino is in Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal. The first Indian casino licence has now been issued to Casinos Austria International. The company has authorisation to operate a casino on board a boat in the waters off the province of Goa, around an hour's flight from Mumbai (Bombay).

The casino on board the Caravela is being managed as a Joint Venture with Advani Hotels & Resorts India Ltd. Its range of games consists of ten table-based games, eight gambling machines and the most popular card game in India: rummy. In addition to this, the ship boasts a sundeck with swimming pool, a restaurant and a bar.

Goa is ``the pearl of the Orient.'' White beaches, its famous architecture: a legacy from the Portuguese colonial period, beautiful bright flowers and excellent cooking make the country a dream holiday destination. The casino licence was therefore also issued to continue to promote tourism in the region.

Casinos Austria International has been involved in cruise ships since 1981. The games, technical equipment and services of the luxury Casinos liners are top quality. The Caravela is presently the 18th casino to be operated on board a boat by the company. Visiting a casino on a boat is a popular and enjoyable part of the passengers' free time.

The casino activities of Casinos Austria on the world's seas are coordinated by two companies: the head office of Shipboard Casino Services (SCS) is located at the heart of the shipping industry in the harbour of Piraus/Greece. Managed from Florida/USA, Casinos Austria Maritime (CAM), mainly operate casinos on ships of the coast of America and in the Caribbean.

With its activities in Europe, America, Africa, Asia, Australia and on the world's seas, Casinos Austria is one of the world's most successful casino companies which has been involved in over 200 casino projects in more than 25 countries over the past 25 years.
