Casino Winner Sentenced for not Reporting Jackpot18 March 2002PHILADELAPHIA – As reported by the Philadelphia Inquirer: "A casino jackpot winner was sentenced yesterday to one to two years in prison for failing to report her winnings and continuing to collect welfare checks. " …[Julia] Sidibe won $247,000 playing slot machines at Bally's Park Place Casino Hotel in Atlantic City in October 1998. "…She returned to casinos - sometimes daily - and gambled away her winnings and public-assistance money, Goldstein said. Sidibe pleaded guilty in December to welfare fraud and theft by deception." |
