Casino Revenue On Mississippi Coast Up Slightly For September26 October 2000GULFPORT, Mississippi – Oct. 26, 2000 – As reported by The Associated Press: "Twelve casinos on the Mississippi Gulf Coast took in $88.7 million for September, according to figures from the State Tax Commission. "That compares with the $88.4 million they won in September 1999. "…Casino revenue statewide for September was $216.8 million, about $9 million more than the 30 state-regulated casinos won in the same month last year. "Coast casinos so far this year have won $854.1 million. The casinos last year won $784.2 million for the same period. "…Casino executives said the slight increase in revenue since March was the result of higher increased marketing and advertising costs that cut into profit margins and do not reflect a natural growth in business.
