Casino Notes

28 January 2003

by Joe Weinert

Analysts: Borgata looks ready to open by July 4 Look for Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa to open sooner rather than later in its advertised "summer 2003" window for opening, according to Deutsche Bank Securities analysts who toured the construction site Jan. 17.

"Based on our discussions with industry and city contacts in Atlantic City, we have a high degree of confidence that the Borgata is on schedule to open just ahead of the July Fourth weekend," analyst Marc Falcone said in a research note.

"We expect carpet to go down on the casino floor within weeks, the slot machines are already shipped and will begin to be installed in early March, the ceilings are wired and painted, and the furniture is in approximately 20 floors of the hotel tower," he said.
