Casino Group: Video Lottery Games Requires Vote

13 February 2003

ATLANTIC CITY, New Jersey – As reported by the Philadelphia Inquirer: "Launching a counteroffensive, a casino trade group yesterday released a legal opinion asserting that the installation of video lottery terminals anywhere but Atlantic City would require the permission of New Jersey voters.

"…Last week, Gov. McGreevey appointed an eight-member commission to study the feasibility of permitting video lottery terminals, which resemble casino slot machines, at New Jersey racetracks or elsewhere in the state. In addition to the commission, a bill that would permit video lottery terminals is pending in the state Senate."
