Casino Employee Charged in $100,000 Theft

CONNECTICUT -- July 5, 2000 – As reported by Associated Press: "…Three days after state police arrested a Mohegan Sun employee and charged him with stealing nearly $100,000 from the casino, police seized $410,000 in cash from his son's home.

"Police seized the cash and computer equipment from the home of Timothy J. Gahner, 21, Monday.

"…On Friday, state police charged Gahner's father, Harlan G. Gahner, 54, an employee at the Mohegan Sun casino, with first-degree larceny. He was seen stashing nearly $100,000 in cash into his overalls while working in a casino money-counting room, police said.

"…The younger Gahner was being held on a $500,000 bond and was to be arraigned in Norwich Superior Court Wednesday..."
