Casino Data Systems Announces Nevada Field Trial of Safe Buster (TM)

19 January 1998

LAS VEGAS -- Casino Data Systems announced today that it was granted approval by the Nevada State Gaming Control Board (the "GCB" or the "Board") to begin a 60-day field trial of its first reel spinning slot machine.

The field trial, required by regulation for all new slot machine platforms, commenced at Circus Circus Las Vegas, Sam's Town Hotel and Gambling Hall, and the Stardust Hotel and Casino on Friday. If completed successfully, the GCB field trial would be followed by required public hearings before the Nevada Gaming Commission ("NGC") where final approval of the product would be considered. If final approval is granted, the Company would be permitted to market the Safe Buster to casinos throughout Nevada.

Safe Buster, jointly marketed by the Company and Anchor Gaming, features a three reel spinning slot machine with a prominent back-lit safe dial which, when matched to a random three number combination, can "crack" a mythical safe containing a jackpot payout.

Diana L. Bennett, President and Chief Operating Officer, stated, "We are obviously excited to have our first reel spinning slot machine approved for field trial in Nevada. Safe Buster features the use of the Telnaes reel spinning technology and, upon meeting regulatory requirements, this field trial will be the basis for our entering the large reel spinning slot machine market in Nevada."
