Casino Connection, the Nation's Only Casino Gambling Debuts on Players Network3 April 2001ATLANTIC CITY, New Jersey –(Press Release) -- April 3, 2001 -- WWAC-TV 53 in Atlantic City and Players Network today announced that Casino Connection, the nation's only weekly television program dedicated exclusively to casino gambling, will debut this week on broadcast television and the Internet. The one-hour live talk show will be broadcast on television every Wednesday at 9 p.m. EDT, with a focus on gaming industry news and ``inside'' information for players. The hosts for Casino Connection are Roger Gros, former Senior Editor of Casino Player magazine, author of ``The Winner's Guide to Casino Gambling'' and acknowledged national gaming expert; and Dave Bontempo, the Award-Winning Color Commentator for ESPN and other network sporting events. Casino Connection will focus on Atlantic City but will include news from casinos around the world. The show will reveal where to find the loosest slot machines, the best blackjack and table games, how to get the most comps, and more. Casino Connection will be broadcast live on WWAC-TV 53 in Atlantic City, which is owned by Lenfest Broadcasting, and carried on cable in seven counties in Southern New Jersey, reaching more than 580,000 homes. Segments of Casino Connection will be available on the Players Network. Casino Connection is a joint venture between Lenfest Broadcasting LLC and Inlet Communications. ``We're pleased to be able to launch the only weekly television program in the nation devoted solely to casino gaming,'' says Robert M. Lund, VP/General Manager of WWAC-TV. ``Casino Connection will connect with a large segment of our viewing audience who are also regular guests of the Atlantic City casinos. Another large part of our marketing is the casino industry workforce. We will reach them with this program as well as key industry executives that influence the future in our area.'' Mark Bradley, the President of Players Network, says Casino Connection is long overdue. ``Considering the size of the gaming industry,'' says Bradley, ``it's surprising that there is no weekly television program that provides the information important to both industry executives and players. It provides Players Network with another source of content unavailable anywhere else on the Internet.'' Each edition of Casino Connection will include exclusive interviews with gaming celebrities, experts, public officials and casino executives; a segment featuring the hot attractions of gaming: the top 10 buffets, slot clubs, blackjack, entertainment, rooms, restaurants, etc.; a segment dedicated to new slot machines, techniques and strategies of slot or video poker play, special slot events at casinos, interviews with slot directors or slot manufacturers, and other slot-related topics; and the secrets about playing table games.. A special ``Game Watch'' segment on Casino Connection is produced by Players Network. Game Watch demonstrates the latest slot machine and video poker technology on games such as Little Green Men, Wheel of Fortune, Triple-Five-Ten Play Poker and more. Roger Gros is a nationally recognized gaming expert, with appearances on ABC-TV's The View, CNN's Newsstand, The Learning Channel's Secrets of the Casinos, and other national shows. Dave Bontempo has hosted ESPN's Friday Night Fights and has been a commentator at many of the sport's major matches. He was recently named to New Jersey's Boxing Hall of Fame. Together, Gros and Bontempo have previously hosted a cable television program called Inside Gaming and ESPN's highly rated U.S. Poker Championships. Lenfest Broadcasting LLC purchased WWAC-TV 53 in August 2000, and has made a commitment to become the leading provider of innovative and exclusive high-quality local and regional programming that connects all segments of the viewing audience. Through community relationships, strategic alliances and syndication agreements, Lenfest expects to make WWAC-TV 53 one of the prominent stations in the Greater Atlantic City, Southern New Jersey and Greater Philadelphia markets. Players Network Inc. owns and operates PlayersNetwork.com, a broadband gaming and entertainment Internet Portal, which includes originally produced gaming-related content, e-commerce and full-streaming video programming on the World Wide Web. Players Network also operates the first and only 24-hour digital gaming and entertainment cable television channel, which is broadcast directly into hotel and casino guestrooms. The company recently signed a deal with British Telecom to provide gaming centric, information and rich media content to BT for use with its Internet access products and content services across all platforms, which will include narrowband, broadband, and wireless services. |
