Casino, College to Offer Hospitality Courses10 May 2005PHILADELPHIA, Pennsylvania – As reported by the Mississippi Clarion Ledger: "Moses Wallace, 19, a food server at a Silver Star Hotel & Casino restaurant, is interested in new classes offered by East Central Community College. "'It's important to take these classes to move up and make more money,' said Wallace, a member of the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians. "The Choctaws signed a partnership with ECCC on Monday to offer an associate degree program in hotel and restaurant management at the Choctaws' Pearl River Resort off Mississippi 16. The program will prepare students to become managers in the hospitality and tourism business, college officials said. "…The resort employs 5,000 workers that soon will be able to receive more in-depth training, Chief Phillip Martin said. He said classes would be open to resort workers, but the public also can take courses. Students can opt for a certificate by completing courses limited to hotel and restaurant management.
