Canadian Ex-Premier Cleared in Corruption Case3 September 2002VANCOUVER, CANADA -- As reported by the Associated Press: ``A former premier of British Columbia has been acquitted of charges of accepting a benefit and breach of trust for allegedly helping a friend get a casino license. ``Glen Clark, the top elected official in the western Canadian province from 1996 until he resigned in 1999 because of the allegations, was found innocent last week on both counts after a 10-month trial. ``Authorities accused Clark of accepting improvements to his properties from a friend, Dimitrios Pilarinos, in exchange for helping Pilarinos obtain the license. The license was revoked after the investigation began. ``Pilarinos was found guilty Thursday in six of nine counts, including offering and conferring a benefit and fraud.
