Camelot Says Lottery Ticket Sales Back Up23 November 2000UNITED KINGDOM – Nov. 23, 2000 – As reported by the Guardian Unlimited: "Camelot, which is battling to retain its National Lottery operating licence, yesterday announced that it had reversed a recent decline in ticket sales. "But the operator also signaled that its profits for the full year would be adversely affected following the introduction of a variety of lottery-based games and increased marketing costs. "The company said sales rose 4% to £2.35bn in the 24 weeks to September 16 and were on track to reach its £10.5bn target for so-called good causes. "…Sir George Russell, the chairman of Camelot, said in a statement that the increase in ticket sales was the result of the promotion of the core game and the development of alternative products, such as Thunderball.
