California's Agua Caliente Casino Planning First Expansion

CALIFORNIA – Nov. 20, 2001 –As reported by the California Desert Sun: "Just seven months after opening the Agua Caliente Casino, its owners are planning an expansion.

"The Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians will add 10,000 to 13,000 feet of gaming space and more space for employees in the back of the house, the tribal chairman reported Monday.

"…The expansion will include space for approximately 16 new card tables and about 100 slot machines, which will come from the tribe's Spa Resort Casino in downtown Palm Springs.

"…Ken Kettler, the casino's general manager, said expansion will increase the number of table games to 48 and the number of slot machines to about 1,200.

"He said table-games players who visit Las Vegas are getting more comfortable playing locally.

"…Casino officials expect the new tables to be used mainly for overflow from weekend crowds at first.

"In addition to blackjack, the casino will add tables for three card stud, pai-gow and midi-baccarat…"
