California Tribes Willing to Share Revenue6 June 2003CALIFORNIA – As reported by the KRNV News: “Indian tribal leaders say they are willing to share 160 million dollars in gaming revenue to soften opposition to a casino they want to build near Sears Point in Sonoma County, California. “Graton Rancheria chairman Greg Sarris made the offer Thursday in Petaluma at the tribe's second public meeting on the proposed casino. “…Las Vegas based Station Casinos has partnered with the tribe and has said that it will pay 24 million dollars for 2,000 acres for a reservation that would include the casino. “Petaluma Mayor David Glass is urging residents to battle the casino and Sonoma County Supervisor Mike Kerns says he doesn't think a casino should be built on sensitive wetlands in an agricultural area…” |
