California Tribes Argue for Self-Policed Casinos

CALIFORNIA – As reported by the San Diego Tribune: "In the shadow of Rincon's posh new Harrah's resort sits a shuttered building, a remnant of a painful past for this North County tribe and California Indian gaming.

That's Rincon's 1995 casino, the one the Mafia built.

Back then, when tribes tiptoed on fringes of legality, Rincon thought its financial partner was a group of Arizona doctors and lawyers. It turned out to be a front for the Pittsburgh mob.
