California Tribe Wants End to New Gambling Deals

LOS ANGELES – As reported by Reuters: "A California tribe has asked a federal court to put an immediate stop to Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's plans to expand reservation gambling, arguing that deals with five tribes would endanger its own casino.

"The Rincon tribe near San Diego, which is a business partner of Harrah's Entertainment Inc. (NYSE:HET), sued the state early this month in federal court to stop California from renegotiating gambling agreements with other tribes.

"…It filed a new motion on Monday asking the court to issue a temporary order restraining the state from implementing the compacts, which still need approval from the state legislature and national regulators…"
