California SuperLotto Plus Jackpot Rolls to $43 Million

26 July 2001

SACRAMENTO, California -- (Press Release) -- Lottery officials announced the estimated SuperLotto Plus jackpot for Saturday night's draw at $43 million. ``This is the largest single-state lottery jackpot in the nation,'' said Lottery Director Joan Wilson. ``Californians are bracing for another case of Lotto Fever.''

A single jackpot winner of $43 million who chooses the 26 graduated annual payments would receive approximately $1,075,000 the first year and those payments would graduate to $2,193,000 by the 26th year (before taxes). A single jackpot winner who chose the cash option would receive the estimated cash value which is roughly half the announced jackpot or $21 million (before taxes).

SuperLotto Plus can be played at approximately 19,000 retail business establishments around the state. The SuperLotto Plus draw takes place each Wednesday and Saturday night at 7:58 p.m. Players can purchase tickets until 7:45 p.m. on the night of the draw. Since 1985, the Lottery has raised more than $12 billion for public schools.
