California SuperLotto Plus Jackpot Rolls to $40 Million8 March 2002SACRAMENTO, California --(Press Release)--March 7, 2002--Lottery officials announced the estimated SuperLotto Plus jackpot for Saturday night's draw at $40 million. ``The jackpot is rolling again and it's at $40 million,'' said Lottery Director, Joan Wilson. ``It's completely random and that's what makes it so exciting. The best part is that it means more money for California's public schools that will receive more than $23 million from this jackpot.'' A single jackpot winner of $40 million who chooses the 26 graduated annual payments would receive approximately $1,000,000 the first year and those payments would graduate to $2,040,000 by the 26th year (before federal withholding, there are no state taxes). A single jackpot winner who chose the cash option would receive the estimated cash value which is roughly half the announced jackpot or $20 million (before federal withholding). SuperLotto Plus can be played at approximately 19,000 retail business establishments around the state. The SuperLotto Plus draw takes place each Wednesday and Saturday night at 7:58 p.m. Players can purchase tickets until 7:45 p.m. on the night of the draw. |
