California Man Banks on Shaping Future of Online Bingo

YUCCA VALLEY, California – May 25, 2001 –As reported by the (California) Desert Sun: "Inside [a] modest, one-story home, Wayne Townsend taps and clicks on tens of thousands of dollars in computer equipment. He's working on a plan to license software for animated Internet gambling games he wants to pitch to local American Indian casinos.

"…Despite the homespun reputation of its real-world counterpart, the moneymaking potential of Internet bingo is huge, Townsend said.

"The social nature of the game is compatible with Internet chat rooms.

"It is also one of the least controversial forms of real-world gambling.

"…But questions remain about the legality of Internet gaming and whether local tribes will buy into Townsend's plan. Townsend is banking on it.
