California Bill Introduced to Ban Online Gambling14 May 2002SACRAMENTO, California – As reported by KCRA TV (www.thekcrachannel.com) : "Want to wager on blackjack or poker but don't want to drive to Nevada or an Indian casino? You don't have to look any farther than your home computer. But it's the convenience of online gaming that scares recovering gambling addicts. "And one California legislator is lobbying to put the brakes on online gaming. "…Assemblyman Dario Frommer, D-Los Angeles, has put together a bill that would ban Internet gaming. "We have had many people get taken by Internet gaming. I heard from a husband who came to me after his wife lost hundreds of thousands of dollars to Internet gaming and killed herself," Frommer said.
