Caesars Palace Ushers in New Millennium with Major Renovations

30 January 1998

LAS VEGAS -- Caesars Palace is preparing for the new millennium with a $600 million expansion/renovation program that includes a $495 million tower, a Spa and Fitness Center, an expanded swimming complex and more.

The new Palace Tower features more than 1000 guest rooms and suites, 110,000 square feet of function space with state-of-the-art audio/visual capabilities and two new restaurants. Its exterior resembles a classic Greco-Roman facade, including fluted columns with Corinthian capitals capped with three dramatic pediments.

The 23,000 sq. ft. Spa and Fitness Center (opening in Spring of `98), will feature a rock climbing wall, a boxing ring and a relaxation/mediation chamber with a Zen waterfall. Twenty-eight treatment salons will offer massages, body wraps, thalassotherapy, facials, loofahs, and salt treatments.

They've has also introduced an expanded 4.5 acre "Garden of the Gods" swimming complex, a third new restaurant, new retail outlets in Appian Way, and a new wing of the Forum Shops (including FAO Schwarz, Virgin Megastore and "Race For Atlantic," the 3-D IMAX motion simulator ride).

"Only Caesars Palace could take a two-thousand- year-old concept into the next millennium and make it work," mused Caesars Palace President William J. Hornbuckle. "If you can't go into a new century with a smile on your face, why go at all?"
