Business Down For Indiana Casino Boat

13 July 2001

INDIANA – July 13, 2001 –As reported by the (Indiana) Gleaner: "Business is down this year at the Casino Aztar riverboat in Evansville, owner Aztar Corp. said Wednesday.

"The Evansville boat's revenues fell 9 percent from a year ago, dropping from $27.6 million in the second quarter of 2000 to $25 million in the second quarter this year.

"Through the first half of the year, revenues at the Evansville boat totaled $52.3 million, down from $55.8 million a year ago.

"Operating profits amounted to $9.9 million, down from $11.3 million.

"For the second quarter, the Aztar hotel rates averaged $66.09 per day, up from $64.18 in the same period last year.

"Companywide, Aztar reported net income of $16 million (or 40 cents per share) in the second quarter, up from $14.9 million a year ago…"
