Bush Favored to Win Heisman

22 November 2005

WILLEMSTAD, Curacao – (PRESS RELEASE) -- For one week, Texas quarterback Vince Young overtook USC's Reggie Bush as the Heisman Trophy favorite at the leading online sportsbook, PinnacleSports.com. Young's reign as the favorite to win college football's most prestigious award was short- lived, as Reggie Bush exploded for over 500 all-purpose yards on Saturday to regain his status as Heisman frontrunner at PinnacleSports.com.

Before last Saturday's games kicked off, PinnacleSports.com listed the Longhorn quarterback as a 1/2 favorite to win the 2005 Heisman Trophy and had Bush with the second-best odds at 3/2. After playing the game of his life against Fresno State, Bush catapulted back into the Heisman lead and is now listed as an overwhelming 1/5 favorite to win the award. Despite accounting for 30 total touchdowns while leading second-ranked Texas to an undefeated season thus far, Vince Young's Heisman hopes now appear to be a mere pipe dream as he now finds himself a slight underdog at 7/1 odds. USC quarterback Matt Leinart, who began the season as an overwhelming 13/10 favorite at PinnacleSports.com, is now a distant 100/1 long shot to become only the second two-time Heisman winner in NCAA history.

"Following his electrifying performance in Saturday's win, there's no doubt the voters will favor Bush in his Heisman campaign," said Simon Noble of PinnacleSports.com. "Although Vince Young has two games remaining before the Heisman Trophy ceremony on December 10th, it would take a Herculean effort for him to defeat the Trojan's workhorse in this race."
