Budget impasse will shutdown Detroit casinos28 September 2007MICHIGAN -- As reported by Crain's Detroit: "The Michigan Gaming Control Board on Thursday issued an order that all gambling at Detroit's three casinos will halt if the budget impasse in Lansing triggers a shutdown of state government functions next week. "Richard Kalm, executive director of the board, told board members that if the state fails to pass a balanced budget by Oct. 1, his regulators at the casinos might 'temporarily cease' their oversight. "Casino lawyers were studying the seven-page order Thursday afternoon and had not yet decided whether to challenge it in court, several sources said..." |
