Brother Takes Over Late Saudi Prince's Horse Breeding Operation1 August 2002SAUDI ARABIA – As reported by the Thoroughbred Times: "The Thoroughbred Corp., the vast racing and breeding operation owned by the late Saudi Arabian Prince Ahmed bin Salman, will be overseen on a daily basis by the prince's brother, Prince Faisal bin Salman, who has been appointed by his family. "`It is an honor for me to assume these responsibilities on behalf of the family,' Prince Faisal said from his home in the Saudi capital of Riyadh in an announcement issued Wednesday morning by The Thoroughbred Corp. "Racing Manager Richard Mulhall will retain his position with The Thoroughbred Corp., and Prince Faisal indicated that there are no current plans for a wide dispersal of the stable's bloodstock. "…Prince Ahmed died on July 22 of an apparent heart attack at the age of 43. He built The Thoroughbred Corp., which he founded in 1994, into one of the world's most powerful racing stables and had won four of the previous six Triple Crown races with homebred Point Given, Horse of the Year in 2001, and War Emblem this year |
