British Popstars to Boost Racing26 March 2003U.K. -- As reported by BBC Sport: ``Atomic Kitten and Liberty X are among the pop groups who have been signed up to help horse racing appeal to a younger audience. ``The bands will play at the sport's headquarters, Newmarket, after Friday evening meetings in the summer. ``Racecourse officials are hoping to build on the success of 2002 when a total of 100,000 people attended six special nights. ``The 2003 concerts are expected to sell out quickly, and in the process attract a new audience to the sport. ``Atomic Kitten and Liberty X, who will play Newmarket for the first time, join a summer line-up that includes two of last year's sell-outs, Jools Holland & His Rhythm and Blues Orchestra and Status Quo..." |
