Boyd Reports New Position

LAS VEGAS – (Press Release) -- Boyd Gaming Corporation (NYSE: BYD) today announced that Paul Chakmak, one of the leading bankers to the gaming industry, will join the Company as its Senior Vice President -- Finance and Treasurer. This newly created position at Boyd Gaming will report to Ellis Landau, the Company's Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer.

Commenting on the appointment, William S. Boyd, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Boyd Gaming, said, 'We are very pleased that Paul has agreed to join our Company. I have gotten to know him well over the nearly fifteen years that he has been a banker for our Company and have the utmost respect for his abilities and his understanding of our Company and our industry. I know that he will work well with Ellis and others in continuing the excellent work of our finance department.'

Mr. Chakmak, 39, is leaving his position as Managing Director of CIBC World Markets in its Los Angeles office. He has been the senior member of the bank's West Coast Leveraged Finance Group specializing in, among other things, providing capital to and advising companies in the gaming industry.

Ellis Landau, Boyd Gaming's Chief Financial Officer, commented, 'Paul's skills in corporate finance, his knowledge of and contacts in the gaming industry, and his familiarity with our Company all make him a natural for this new position.'
