Boyd Gaming Names Senior Operations VP

LAS VEGAS – (PRESS RELEASE) -- Boyd Gaming Corporation (NYSE: BYD) today announced that Hector Mon has joined the Company as Senior Vice President Operations. In his new position, Mr. Mon will be responsible for Boyd Gaming's riverboat operations in Illinois, Indiana and Mississippi and will report to Keith Smith, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer.

Commenting on the appointment, William S. Boyd, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Boyd Gaming, said, "Hector has been a top executive in our industry for many years and, with his wealth of experience, will be a great addition to our senior management team. With our merger with Coast Casinos nearly complete, the Shreveport acquisition well in-hand, and several expansions getting underway across the Company, Hector will bring additional depth to our management team. We are pleased that he has decided to join our Company."

Mr. Mon, 51, was previously the President and General Manager of Tropicana Las Vegas. Before joining Tropicana in 1999, he held several top executive positions with Harrah's Entertainment, including Nevada Division President and President of Harrah's Atlantic City. Mr. Mon holds a master's degree in Organization Development from Pepperdine University.

Keith Smith, Boyd Gaming's Chief Operating Officer, added, "Hector has demonstrated an ability to get results throughout his career. We enthusiastically look forward to having a person with his abilities on our Boyd Gaming team."
