Borgata Not Disclosing Preliminary Revenues as Others Do Monthly29 July 2003ATLANTIC CITY – As reported by the Press of Atlantic City: `` Readers of this newspaper, investors, analysts and gaming observers, however, are in for a surprise next week: There will be no industrywide revenue report. ``…The new kid in town has informed competing executives that it will not share preliminary revenue figures, depriving the gaming public of its early revenue fix each month. ``Borgata's decision ends an industrywide practice that dates to the mid 1980s. ```Here's why we came to that decision,’ Borgata CEO Robert Boughner said Monday. ``’Those numbers are unaudited and often there are discrepancies. Some people do not deduct amounts for wide-area progressives (jackpot slots), which tends to overstate the revenues,’ he said. ``...`Second, it boils down to selective disclosure. ``...`And lastly, that (revenue disclosure) is best left to the Casino Control Commission,' Boughner continued. ``…The public will now have to wait until the state casino commission releases revenue results in the middle of each month…” |
