Borgata Hears from Thousands for Jobs

ATLANTIC CITY – As reported by the Press of Atlantic City: ``On the fourth floor of the Atlantic City Convention Center is a huge sign decorated with a blue background and gold and white letters: "Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa. Work Someplace Different," it proclaims.

``The Borgata will have 4,800 workers when the billion-dollar gaming and hotel complex opens its doors this summer, the first new casino in Atlantic City in 13 years.

``While the majority of the employees hired by Boyd Gaming Corp., Borgata's owner, are expected to have prior experience in the casino business, a significant number of workers will be recruited from other industries.

```We are looking for people who have been downsized, laid off or are working only part-time and are looking to change careers,' said Cassie Fireman, the Borgata vice president overseeing the casino's employment center.

``…Hundreds of job-seekers have been flocking to the Borgata's employment center each day since it opened last week on the fourth floor of the Atlantic City Convention Center. About 600 braved the bitterly cold weather Saturday to fill out applications or to be interviewed.

``… Altogether, nearly 30,000 people have applied for jobs so far on the Borgata's Web site or in person at the employment center. Fireman said the company is astonished by the overwhelming demand…"
