Borgata Bets on Table Play5 May 2003ATLANTIC CITY, New Jersey -- As reported by the Asbury Park Press: "No matter how many gourmet restaurants, landscaped acres and oversize hotel rooms the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa offers visitors, the bottom line is that it wouldn't exist without casino gambling. "Although the Borgata is, to a large degree, following Las Vegas' full-service resort model, it is the performance of the 135,000 square feet of casino space that will be most crucial to the megaresort's success. "Borgata managers said they scoped out the other casinos and brought together focus groups to come up with their design. "The emphasis on slots is not surprising considering one-armed bandits account for fully three-fourths of Atlantic City's $4.2 billion in annual gaming revenue. "Only four casinos have 100 or more table games -- Tropicana, Caesars, Bally's and the Taj Mahal. "Although the Borgata will offer 3,650 slot machines, the main casino also will contain 145 tables offering such games as blackjack, craps, Caribbean Stud and roulette. An auxiliary space will accommodate 34 poker tables, a keno parlor and a 50-station horse race `book.'..." |
