Bookies Laying Odds on 'Survivor'

9 January 2001

"The Sahara hotel-casino is betting that 32-year-old Army intelligence officer Kel Gleason will be the 6-to-1 favorite to win the latest reality-based CBS series.

"Meanwhile, the Stardust hotel-casino lists Gleason as the 4-to-1 favorite to win the TV contest in the Australian outback.

"The odds...are only hypothetical because Nevada law prohibits wagers on events in which the outcome already is known, and CBS, unlike the oddsmakers, knows how this contest ends..."
