Bookie Sentenced in Gambling Case13 January 2003NEW YORK -- As reported by the New York Post: ``A Staten Island man identified as Pete Rose's bookie during the scandal that resulted in Rose's banishment from baseball was sentenced yesterday to four months in prison in an unrelated gambling case. ``Richard Troy, 46, also agreed to pay a $225,000 fine as part of the plea bargain finalized in Brooklyn state Supreme Court. ``Troy was among 13 people arrested in gambling raids during last year's Super Bowl weekend..." |
