Bookie Now Operating on Platform 9

LONDON, UK -- As reported by the Evening Standard: ``Ladbrokes, the betting chain owned by leisure group Hilton, is opening the first bookies on a mainline railway platform in one of the clearest examples yet of the deregulation of gambling.

``Paddington (Train Station) commuters will be able to bet seven days a week at the shop, situated on Platform 9

``…The shop shows how magistrates are deciding on betting licences even before new legislation is enacted. Previously, Ladbrokes would have had to prove there was a natural demand…"
