Bold Ideas Presented at Northern Nevada Gaming Summit

RENO, Nevada – As reported by the Reno Gazette-Journal: "A national gambling museum, heavily targeting Hispanic travelers, a consumer gaming show, and making downtown smell good.

"Those are the abbreviated versions of ideas presented at Wednesday's Northern Nevada Gaming Summit during a session titled 'Eureka! Big bold concepts that could drive gaming business for Northern Nevada.'

"…Mark Curtis of Powerhouse advertising in Reno used a video presentation to pitch the idea of creating an American Gaming Museum in downtown Reno that would teach the history of gambling and have interactive features.

"…One such feature could be a roller coaster that takes passengers along the path of a coin through a three-story slot machine.

"…Heavily targeting the $1 trillion buying power U.S. Hispanics are estimated to control by 2008 was Kathy Pulliam Jordan's idea. She is a partner in the Reno/ Tahoe Latin Review magazine.

"…Steve Browne, a vice president with Raving Consulting Co., the summit promoter, threw out the idea of creating a gaming consumer show to let avid gamblers get an annual sneak peek at new industry developments.

"…The idea to make downtown Reno smell good wasn't quite that simple. It came from Bruce Rowe, president of Renaissance Casino Solutions Inc. of Las Vegas, who emphasized improving the city core in various ways.

"…He said tourism leaders should band together and create a vision for downtown — from the color of sidewalks to light poles — to create a unique feel…"
