BoDog First To Offer Odds On 2003 OscarsThe 75th Annual Academy4 October 2002INTERNET – (Press Release) --The 75th Annual Academy Awards may be over six months away, but BoDog Sportsbook and Casino has gone one-step beyond the competitors and released the Odds to win Best Picture listing the Martin Scorcese-directed, and as-yet unreleased, Gangs of New York as the odds-on favorite to take the top prize. Listed at 2/1, Gangs of New York is one of 24 movies currently available for wagering on. The list also includes Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, Red Dragon, Spiderman and the surprise box-office hit My Big Fat Greek Wedding. "One of the things that separates us from other sportsbooks is the fact that we offer a much wider selection of product than anybody else," said Rob Gillespie, Operations Manager. "Non-Sporting Events and Popular Culture items such as the Oscars, the Emmys and reality-TV shows are very popular with our players. It adds an element of fun to these events." When BoDog announced last year's odds, eventual winner Beautiful Mind was listed as a 4/5 favorite. "It's still very early, the awards ceremony isn't until March 23rd so there may still be time for a dark horse to emerge," said Gillespie. "Personally, I like My Big Fat Greek Wedding, but like I said, it's still very early. Who knows, maybe Spiderman will do everything a spider can to take the Oscar. A $50 bet on Spiderman pays $1000 if it wins!" Odds-to-win Best Actor, Best Actress and Best Director will be posted later in the fall. |
