Bluff Magazine's Poker Player of The Year Race Heats Up26 September 2006ATLANTA, Georgia – (PRESS RELEASE) -- With just over 100 days remaining in 2006, the Bluff Magazine Poker Player of the Year race is heating up. Ten poker pros are still in the hunt including John Juanda, David Williams, Gavin Smith and Barry Greenstein. "Winning the 2006 Bluff Player of the Year Award would be a tremendous honor, said poker pro Gavin Smith, currently third in Bluff's Player of the Year Standings. Bluff's poker standings are a true measure of a poker player's performance over the course of a year. I'm hopeful I will play well enough in the remaining tournaments over the next three months to earn this award." The Player of the Year Rankings are based on the results of major tournaments taking place during the 2006 calendar year. Qualifying tournaments must have a minimum $5,000 buy-in with at least 100 participants. In all cases, players must finish in the money to earn points. The winner of the Bluff Magazine Player of the Year is considered by many to be the top player in the world. Phil Ivey, the 2005 winner supports the ranking's accuracy. Eric Morris, publisher of Bluff Magazine commented, "The Bluff Player of the Year will come down to the last major events in 2006. Any one of ten players can win and it will be exciting to watch the action as the top players in the world vie for the Bluff Player of the Year." Along with the prestige of being named the Player of the Year, the select poker pro will grace the cover of the February issue of Bluff Magazine. |
