Biloxi Entry Glows Like Casino Strip31 August 2000BILOXI, MISSISSIPPI –Aug. 31, 2000 –As reported by The Mississippi Sun Herald: "A primary entrance to Biloxi's downtown could soon look like a casino strip, even though only one casino is located there. "Beau Rivage, which chose to attract attention with landscaping and elegance instead of glitzy lights when it opened last year, now plans to put a large sign at the western entrance to the downtown district from U.S. 90. "This sign will join the existing Boomtown Welcome Center sign and a 20-foot-tall video sign that Grand Casino will erect at its welcome center. The large signs of its competitors would dwarf the Beau Rivage signs currently directing visitors to turn into the $680 million resort. "…Last week, the City Council approved zoning exceptions to allow Grand Casino to erect a large video sign, 20 feet high and 11 feet wide, at its welcome center across the highway from Beau Rivage…" |
