Big Game Jackpot Revised to $325 Million15 April 2002ILLINOIS – (Press Release) -- Today may be tax day, but millions of Big Game players are thinking about a different set of numbers: which numbers will come up in tomorrow night's Big Game drawing. In fact, so many people are playing that today forecasters updated the estimated jackpot from $300 million to $325 million. Although there was no jackpot winner in Friday night's drawing, more than four million Big Game players hold winning tickets. Their prizes range from $1 to $150,000. 44 players hold $150,000 winning tickets from Friday night's drawing. The record for the highest jackpot awarded in North American history is held by The Big Game: $363 million in May of 2000. The odds of winning the jackpot are approximately one in 76 million. The odds of winning any prize are one in 31. The jackpot is determined by the number of tickets sold in all the Big Game states, so that amount is constantly changing. By raising the estimated jackpot, forecasters are saying that Big Game sales are extremely strong. The Big Game is currently played in seven states -- Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey and Virginia. But changes are on the way! The Big Game will become Mega Millions on May 15, when New York and Ohio join the fun. |
