Big Game Jackpot Revised to $155 Million9 April 2002ILLINOIS –(Press Release) --With sales for tonight's Big Game drawing as strong as ever, forecasters have again updated the estimated jackpot amount. It now stands at $155 million. By raising the estimated jackpot, forecasters are reflecting the high sales in Big Game states. It is those sales that directly determine the jackpot amount. In fact, just yesterday, the estimated jackpot was raised to $153 million. So this is a raise of $2 million in about 24 hours. This jackpot has been building since February 5, 2002, when The Big Game had its most recent jackpot winner. The jackpot has now rolled 17 times without a winner. The odds of winning the jackpot are approximately one in 76 million. If there is a winner (or winners) in tonight's drawing, it will be the third highest jackpot amount in Big Game history. The record for the highest jackpot awarded in North American history is held by The Big Game: $363 million in May of 2000. The Big Game is currently played in seven states - Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey and Virginia. New York and Ohio have announced plans to join the game within the next few months. That is expected to mean major changes, which will be announced soon. |
