Big Game Jackpot Climbs to $76 Million

27 March 2002

LANSING, Michigan –(Press Release) -- Imagine earning more than $8,000 in a single day!

That dream could become a reality this Friday night for a lucky Michigan Lottery player -- if the right Big Game combination can be found. The estimated jackpot for Friday's (March 29) Big Game drawing is a whopping $76 million!

``One dollar for the chance to win $76 million? You can't beat that for stirring up our players' imaginations,'' said Acting Michigan Lottery Commissioner Jim Kipp. ``People are having a lot of fun discussing what they would do if they won.''

If one winning ticket matches all six numbers and the player has selected annuity payments over 26 years, the $76 million jackpot would amount to pre- tax payments of roughly:

$2.92 million annually;

$56,213 per week; or

$8,030 per day!

For those who prefer to take their cash winnings up-front, it's a pretty nice payday as well. If one lucky cash-option player matches all six winning numbers, he or she will take home a check for approximately $40 million (before taxes), the estimated present cash value of tonight's jackpot!

Big Game tickets are available in Michigan, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey and Virginia. Wagers cost $1 each and can be purchased at more than 7,000 Michigan Lottery retailers statewide. Friday's drawing will be conducted at 11 p.m. and broadcast on cable superstation WGN out of Chicago as well as a network of Michigan stations (check local listings).
