BGI Launches Beta Site Featuring Its 'Virtual Sweepstakes' Engine

12 October 2000

AUSTIN, TEXAS – (Press Release)-- Oct. 12, 2000 -- Thomas B. Murphy, President of BGI, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: BGII) announced today that BGI, Inc. has launched the Beta test of their new Internet business site.

"The Beta will be carefully monitored and rolled out to selected customers initially and expanded to a broader market during the test period,'' said Murphy.

``Utilizing our unique 'Virtual Sweepstakes(TM)' Engine we are excited to be moving our business model to the Internet,'' said Murphy.

``To ensure our ability to deliver a quality product to our online customers we pushed back our earlier launch date to add customer requested features and changes. It was critical to be able to ensure that the technology we developed would meet both our customers' desires and our expectations. We have developed a strong business model backed by a well architected technology that will provide our customers with INSTANT GRATIFICATION in our highly entertaining sweepstakes,'' said Murphy.

Allan Kramer, Chief Technical Officer stated that, ``The initial results from our Beta launch confirms our forecast that we require a high bandwidth Data Center solution in order to maximize performance. We are planning to co-locate our systems directly on an Internet backbone of a top end Data Center.''

BGI is currently in discussions with Aperian, Exodus, and WorldCom and expects to make a final determination in the next few days with a target date for the upgraded support at the end of November.

At the heart of the sweepstakes is a proprietary game engine, an exciting interactive ``Virtual Sweepstakes(TM)'' promotion. Purchasers of the pre-paid phone cards will be given a free entry and be able to spin the virtual machine. As with any sweepstakes, there is also an alternate No Purchase Necessary means of entry for participants. Prizes will range up to $1,000, and will be awarded to the winning entrant instantly.

Murphy also said, ``We believe the excitement created by the highly entertaining sweepstakes game combined with immediate gratification will result in a high frequency of entry translating into increased product exposure and revenues. Our sweepstakes will provide what is missing today in Internet sweepstakes. We will provide instant gratification in an interactive sweepstakes that is familiar, has overwhelming entertainment value, and is just plain fun.''

BGI is also evaluating the development of additional products and sweepstakes games to be marketed through its site.

``We have selected a limited number of partners that will be featured on our site,'' said Reid Funderburk, Chairman and CEO. ``The growth of the Internet, on-line promotional sweepstakes and e-commerce are converging. We believe our Virtual Sweepstakes is well positioned for 'virtual' success,'' said Funderburk.

Based in Austin, Texas, BGI, Inc. is a leading provider of instant cash sweepstakes games in the United States. Promoting the sale of prepaid phone cards with its stand alone Lucky Strike Prepaid Phone Card Dispensers featuring an instant win sweepstakes has provided the Company with the proprietary knowledge and experience to take this marketing concept to the Internet. BGII has been publicly traded and fully reporting since December, 1994.
