BetWWTS.com Updates Odds on American Idol

5 May 2003

St. JOHN'S, Antigua -- (Press Release) -- Beginning with a field of thousands of hopefuls, the field for the latest edition of American Idol has been narrowed down to four remaining contestants as the show nears its finale. With American Idol attracting nearly 20 million viewers two times each week, it's obvious the show's loyal fans remain interested in the country's largest talent search. The first company to accept bets on the original series, BetWWTS.com today announced updated odds on who will be voted the next American Idol.

A leading offshore gaming company for over 10 years, BetWWTS.com has listed odds on each of the four remaining performers winning the recording contract. Currently, BetWWTS.com lists Ruben Studdard as the favorite to be crowned the next pop superstar at 2/3 odds (i.e., win $2 for every $3 bet). Although the odds are clearly in Ruben's favor, BetWWTS.com has not discounted the talent of Clay Aiken or Kimberley Locke and has listed them with 7/4 and 15/2 odds, respectively. Joshua Gracin has been installed the long shot to win the competition at 20/1 odds as BetWWTS.com feels his days of carrying the "patriotic vote" are coming to an end.

"It's obvious from past performances that Ruben stands out from the rest with his innate ability to adapt to different styles, songs, and eras -- making him our favorite to win the recording contract," said Simon Noble, CEO of BetWWTS.com. "Although the judges have been thoroughly impressed with Ruben's performances, the voters had him in the bottom two last week. This happened last year when Tamyra was clearly the best performer, but didn't win over the voting public. So we've installed Clay with close odds to win the competition because nobody knows exactly who the viewers are going to select as their Idol."
